New Na’vi Tribe and Stunning Creatures Unveiled in Avatar: Fire and Ash Concept Art

The world of Pandora is expanding once again, with Disney revealing a breathtaking new look at Avatar: Fire and Ash at the D23 Brazil event. The third film in James Cameron‘s Avatar series will explore new realms and tribes of Pandora, showcasing fresh landscapes, creatures, and characters through a collection of concept art that teases what’s to come.

In two of the illustrations by artists Steve Messing and Dylan Cole, viewers glimpse high-flying aircraft gliding over bioluminescent oceans and towering cliffs. These floating vehicles have organic features, with balloon-like bodies, bat-wing sails, and jellyfish-like tails, suggesting they may be alive or at least organically inspired. The art evokes the otherworldly beauty that fans have come to expect from Pandora.

Another piece by Zachary Berger introduces an as-yet-unknown Na’vi character riding a creature reminiscent of the iconic banshees, but with wings that resemble segmented feathers. This character dons a distinct headdress, hinting at a possible new tribe — or perhaps a familiar face in a new role.

Perhaps the most intriguing reveal comes in the form of a new Na’vi tribe, the Ash People, seen in another illustration by Messing. In the image, a figure — possibly Jake Sully — appears to be handcuffed and led into an ash-covered village by tribespeople wielding repurposed Earth military weapons. The Ash People’s village is nestled atop what looks like layers of ash, with elaborate tent structures, woven textiles, and numerous banshees perched on the cliffs above.

This scene, set in the glowing sea, may take place within the Metkayina community, suggesting a ritual or sendoff before Jake Sully’s family embarks on their journey to meet new tribes.

In explaining the film’s title, Fire and Ash, James Cameron suggested that the concepts of fire and ash symbolize powerful emotions and their consequences. “If you think of fire as hatred, anger, violence… and ash as the aftermath — grief, loss,” Cameron explained. He added that the cycle of violence and sorrow is a central theme in the movie, with implications for the future of Pandora and its people.

Fans can expect to dive back into the stunning and complex world of Pandora when Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theaters on December 19, 2025.
