Jorge Garcia Revisits Iconic Lost Props 20 Years Later: ‘Dream-Come-True Stuff’

It’s been 20 years since Lost premiered, and to celebrate the milestone anniversary, Jorge Garcia, who portrayed Hugo “Hurley” Reyes, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane by revisiting some of the most iconic props from the show. In an exclusive video with Entertainment Weekly, Garcia visits the Disney archives, where some of Lost‘s most memorable items are preserved. “It’s been 20 years since the Lost premiere, can you believe it? I can’t. Time flies,” Garcia reflects as he embarks on his journey.

The first prop Garcia encounters is the DHARMA Initiative van from season 3. Laughing as he pulls off the tarp, Garcia reminisces about filming one of the most fun moments of the series. “I didn’t actually know how to drive stick shift, so that was a bit of a challenge,” he admits. Despite that, he recalls fondly getting to do doughnuts in the van during one action-packed scene, saying, “That was perhaps one of the most fun moments on the show for me.”

Garcia’s nostalgic adventure continues as he encounters a piece of the Oceanic flight 815 plane from the pilot episode. It immediately takes him back to his first day on set, seeing the massive crashed fuselage and the chaos of filming the plane crash scene. “It was definitely this moment as an actor where I was going, ‘Holy cow, this is big league production,'” Garcia recalls. “Getting to do that thing where you dive out when something explodes behind you? Check, dream-come-true stuff.” Among the more unexpected items Garcia finds is the fruit roll-up snack from season 5, when Hurley offered it to Jacob. Laughing at the odd preservation of such a small prop, Garcia jokes, “The fact that you saved this? Um, okay. Interesting.”

In addition to these props, Garcia also unearthed Hurley’s mug shot, his winning lottery ticket with the infamous cursed numbers, and more, reflecting on the lasting impact Lost has had on his life and career.
