Dewan had sought a share of the profits generated by the franchise, which became a box-office hit and expanded into sequels, a reality television series, and even live performances in Las Vegas and London. According to her legal team, the funds used for the film’s development gave her rightful claim to the revenues it generated, despite the couple’s separation. Tatum, meanwhile, denied accusations that he had hidden assets related to the franchise from Dewan. His team maintained that he had handled his finances transparently and that the Magic Mike enterprise did not entitle Dewan to the profits she was pursuing.
The dispute was on track for a trial scheduled for December, where the couple would have taken the stand to testify against each other. However, this outcome was avoided with a binding judgment on the financial dispute, allowing the former couple to finally close the book on their lengthy divorce battle. Representatives for Tatum did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s request for comment. Dewan and Tatum’s romance was once the subject of much public admiration. The pair met on the set of the dance drama Step Up in 2006, where sparks flew both on and off the screen.
They got engaged in 2008, married in a lavish ceremony in 2009, and welcomed their daughter, Everly, in 2013. For years, they were seen as one of Hollywood‘s most beloved couples, but in April 2018, they shocked fans by announcing their separation after nine years of marriage.
